It is ideal to use after a hard workout, after working and competing on hard surfaces and is easy to apply.
The anti-inflammatory properties of Arnica, working with the Epsom salt, which is well known for its ability to draw out inflammation and reduce inflammation, along with Iodine’s antiseptic properties, working with the Stockholm Tar which aids in keeping the moisture balance in the hoof, makes the hoof pack an ideal agent to use as a poultice when a bruised or abscessed foot occurs.
To apply to the hoof
1. Clean and dry the bottom of the horse’s hoof
2. Using a wet hand, or gloved hand, scoop out a generous amount and apply firmly to
the bottom of the hoof sole, covering the whole bottom hoof structure
3. Using shavings, or paper, cover the bottom of the hoof
4. Leave for 12-24 hours, remove with hoof pick before working
It is essential to make sure the bottom of the hoof is dry, if it is not dry the hoof pack will not adhere correctly to the bottom of the hoof and it increases the chance of the hoof pack falling out of the hoof. The same will occur if the pack becomes wet once applied. Thus if a horse is being turned out it would be ideal to just wrap vet wrap on the bottom of the hoof.
However, in the stable, no bandage would be necessary.
With unshod horses wrapping the pack in with a thin layer of vet wrap is recommended to keep the hoof pack in.
The Hoof Pack is quite solid within the container, especially in cooler environments, and
when scooping out one will have to mould the pack till pliable and then place it within the structure of the hoof. A hoof pick is ideal to remove the pack. If some of the pack is still sticking, simply apply water to wash it out. Note the more you mould the pack in your hands the warmer it will get and the sticker it becomes.
In hot climates, keep out of direct sunlight.

Light to dark beige colour
Texture is slightly grainy to smooth
Smell is similar to Stockholm tar and iodine
Poultice the hoof for at least 4 hours and it can stay in for up to 24 hrs.
